A Dog’s Dream Expands Adoption Efforts

For the past few years, Petland Charities has provided its support to A Dog’s Dream, a non-profit organization, located in Neosho, MO that works to train retired breeder dogs adapt to household living, while matching the pets with their forever families. Petland Charities recently donated $12,000 to help the group with expenses related to housing, caring and covering other necessary expenses for the dogs.

Since it opened June 1, 2022, A Dog’s Dream has paired up 538 dogs since opening in 2022, with 204 adopted in 2025.

Board member Misty Fleming shared progress in an adoption partner pilot program with Petland Batavia (IL) - owned by Dan and Janet Star. Several retired dogs have been made available at the store, with nine being adopted from the store so far.
