Petland Chillicothe: Granting Wishes

Petland Chillicothe and Petland Charities are thrilled to make a puppy wish come true for a local child battling cancer. At just 5 years old, Cora was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Since then, she’s faced more than most adults ever will with treatments, appointments, and countless tough days.

Through it all, Cora has been brave and continues to smile through it all. Now 7 years old, she is nearing a long-awaited milestone. Doctors expect the youngster to officially go into remission this May - meaning Cora will be cancer-free.

To celebrate her incredible journey, Cora recently received a very special gift thanks to her local Petland – a Cavalier King Charles puppy, named Princeton.

“Cora has been through a lot over the past two years,” said her mom, Gabrielle Detty of Ross County. “She has been asking for a puppy for a while, but it hasn’t been the right time. Recently, we met Princeton, and they connected immediately. Cora couldn’t stop talking about him and it felt that he was the one we’d been waiting for. I shared our story with the team at Petland Chillicothe, and they were able to make magic happen, thanks to the generosity of Petland Charities. I am so grateful for this amazing gift – and to see my little girl so happy.”

Princeton is doing great with Cora and her family. He’s a companion, a comforter, and a best friend to the little girl who has been through so much. This connection is at the heart of Petland’s mission to support the human - animal bond and meet the needs of both. Words can’t express the hope shared through the unconditional love of a pet. Everyone at Petland and Petland Charities wishes Cora and Princeton all the best as they grow up together.
